ATA Airlines Discontinues All Operations
ATA has filed for bankruptcy, discontinued all operations and cancelled all current and future flights. All ATA customers should seek alternative arrangements for current and future travel.
Passengers booked exclusively on American Trans Air (ATA) will need to dispute the charge with their credit card company in order to obtain a refund. If you are traveling soon, or are in the middle of a trip booked on ATA, there is no airline thus far that has stepped in to offer re-accommodation (and none are required to). We recommend contacting other airlines who operate on the affected route and request re-accommodation, but it is likely that passengers will need to purchase new tickets.
Southwest Airlines has already begun reaching out to any customers who purchased tickets from them for flights operated by ATA under their code-share agreement. Additionally, they have set up a special re-accommodation number for affected passengers: 1-800-308-5037.
If your travel plans begin April 11th or later, please do not call the special re-accommodation number until after April 7th, as their agents will not be able to assist you.
We are saddened by this loss, especially so soon after Aloha Airlines similar announcement. We appreciate your patience during this difficult period, and stand by ready to offer assistance as best we can.
* There has also been some confusion regarding AirTran, who are an entirely different airline, and are in no way affiliated with American Trans Air. Only the names are similar. *
