American Increases Fees for Checked Bags

American Airlines will increase by $5 the charge for a domestic passenger’s first and second checked bag, to $20 and $30, respectively, for all tickets purchased on or after August 14th.
The increased fee will apply for travel within the U.S.; there will be no change to the fees for flights to and from Canada.
Customers may pay checked-bag fees at an airport self-service machine, the curbside check-in counter or at any airport ticket counter.
Elite-level customers of American and the Oneworld alliance will still not have to pay to check bags, nor will first or business class flyers.
