If you travel with a laptop, odds are you hate the extra time it takes to unpack and repack it every time you go through airport security.

There may be good news on the horizon.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced that it will not require travelers to remove their laptops anymore, provided that they carry them in bags that "provide a clear and unobstructed image of the laptop" when undergoing X-ray screening. The bags should have a laptop only section that unfolds to lay flat on the X-ray conveyor, free of metal zippers or snaps. The laptop section should contain no pockets and contain only the laptop.

More than 40 bag manufacturers have already submitted prototypes for testing and the new bags and procedures should be available by the end of the summer.
